TREKKING THE BACKCOUNTRY OF PATAGONIA NATIONAL PARK

The trekking across the Patagonian backcountry, allows us to get to remote and outfitted basecamps with huts.  We will face superb landscapes which are the heart of this new destination in the southern cone of South America.

We start driving from Chile Chico, the gateway community to the Park, accross the steppe and visiting “Valle Lunar”: Unique rock formations where it possible to observe native paintings inside the National Park . We come back to our vehicle to move a litle south and continue our trekking in the decidious forest and turquoise waters lakes, to get finally to Raleigh Camp.

On the second day, we get a real taste of true Patagonian adventure, climbing through La Gloria Pass to have stunning views of  Valle Hermoso. Walking down we walk  besides the awesome hanging glaciers to finally get to the Hut Glaciar Camp.

The third day we ascend to explore the glacier. We descend to spend one more night in the camp site.

The following day, we look for the trails of smugglers of the past, descending through the forest to arrive to Hut Renoval Camp.

Finally we, use rope systems to cross rivers and walk around a trail full of history and evergreen nature, to get back to Chile Chiso.

OVERLANDING PATAGONIA PARK

The last  day, we  will drive back in time to the original Patagonia:

Walking around the rock formations in Monte Zeballos, besides the Meseta Buenos Aires on the Argentinian side.

Visiting the house of the British/ Argentinenan pioneer of the region and the Information Centre of the Park.

Observing how the grasslands and wetlands of the Patagonian steppe have regenerated, and now are open spaces for guanaco herds and lakes with flamingos and several birds.

Driving besides the huge whitewaters of the most voluminous Chilean River.

And then we return to Chile Chico along the Carretera Austral, we will skirt the General Carrera Lake, along one of the most beautiful scenic roads in Patagonia.
